A highly contemporary and sophisticated office refurbishment, set within a spectacular restored Victorian warehouse on Clerkenwell Road.

Once home to Columbia Music’s legendary recording studios, Grafonola’s walls reverberated with the sounds of some of the greatest musicians of the 20th century, a rich cultural heritage preserved within this reimagined Central London workspace.

  • Sensitive heritage restoration — combining two existing buildings to deliver a world-class, sustainable and wellness-driven workspace
  • Enabling works and procurement leadership — managing a significant enabling works contract and single-stage design and build procurement route
  • Ongoing post-contract cost management — providing cost and employer’s agent services through to project completion
  • Change control management — navigating a design and build contract in challenging market conditions, including post-contract instructions for openable windows and a roof terrace with commanding views

The restoration has delivered a first-class and sustainable workspace. Restoration of the building used a quarter of the carbon required to create a new office building and most of the carbon used during the restoration will reduce the building’s environmental impact.

We supported all aspects of the project in a hands-on manner and facilitating extensive post contract change control.
