The sector-leading Operations and Maintenance base for the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm in the heart of Eyemouth Harbour, Berwickshire is now open.

The NnG O&M base at Eyemouth Harbour

CHP provided cost management expertise and acted as employer’s agent for the renewable energy project and is pleased to celebrate the milestone event.

The official opening ceremony – hosted by our client NnG Offshore Wind – was conducted by Michael Matherson MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport.

The state-of-the-art base includes a 1,040sqm, three storey operations and maintenance building, and a 538sqm storage warehouse, alongside pontoons for mooring Crew Transfer Vessels to transport staff to the NnG wind farm located approximately 10 miles off the Fife coast.

Once operational, the NnG offshore wind farm will have capacity to generate 450 megawatts of renewable energy. This is enough power to supply around 375,000 Scottish homes and will offset more than 400,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.

The O&M building includes a high-tech control room which will monitor the wind farm when it is commissioned in 2024.

The project will bring up to 50 quality jobs to Eyemouth during the 25-year lifespan of the wind farm and the base also includes staff welfare facilities, workspaces and briefing rooms.

We’re proud of the role CHP has played in delivering NnG’s new O&M base, particularly given the location of the site and the challenges this presented during the pandemic and other industry pressures over the last few years.

We are pleased to have contributed to this important project, which will have a tremendous impact to low carbon energy production in Scotland.

Gerry Hayes, Partner

I’m immensely proud of the facility that we’ve built here, which is one of the most advanced O&M bases of any wind farm in the world. It will ensure not only that the NnG wind farm runs efficiently but that we put the safety and welfare of our people front and centre as they look after the operations of the NNG wind farm.
